Bank Angle

Took a ride with Rob in his Stearman bi-plane on Sunday afternoon. Rob actually let me fly it! We spotted some city lakers waving to us from shore so we made a rather tight turn to check them out as you can see from the picture. Great day for a plane ride, clear skys and calm winds.

This is the bank angle Formula:
Radius = speed2 / (gravity x tangent (bank angle))
time = 2 x PI x speed / (gravity x tangent (bank angle))
where: speed=feet per second (fps = mph x 1.47)

In case you were wondering how we made such a tight turn.
